SAFETY & SUSTAINABILITY

Providing a safe and sustainable environment is a top priority. This includes having the right resources protecting our residents, policies in place to ensure sustainability and a plan for the future. Progress was made in all these areas in the past few years.

POLICE

  • Added officers to meet demand for our growing community

  • Created the Commander role at no additional cost to assist the Chief with the increasing demands of the department

  • Invested in new technology and equipment

FIRE

  • Implemented changes to assist in the recruitment and retention of the only volunteer Fire Department in the area

    • Increased hourly pay to $14/hour​

    • Refined retirement plan with no impact to tax base

  • Invested in aerial fire truck​

AMBULANCE

  • Partnered with HealthEast ambulance to improve response times and increase presence in our community

WATER

  • Implemented new policy for road salting to reduce runoff into local waterways

  • Monitor need for additional water treatment plan as our city expands

ROADS

  • 4-way signal light at County Road 42 and Akron Avenue coming in 2021

  • Roundabout at Connemara and Diamond Path coming 2022

  • Partnering with Dakota County on traffic studies for County Roads 42 and 46

  • Continuous evaluation of crosswalk needs

  • Partner with State of Minnesota and RHS administration to address ongoing concerns at the High School entrance on Highway 3
